What Is a Wallpaper Calculator?
A wallpaper calculator is a tool to determine how many rolls of wallpaper you need for your project. Unlike paint, wallpaper calculations are complex because they must account for pattern repeats and the fixed dimensions of a roll. This calculator helps you buy the right amount, preventing shortages and ensuring you get rolls from the same dye lot.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your room's total perimeter and wall height.
- Input the width and length of a single wallpaper roll from its label.
- Enter the 'pattern repeat' distance, also found on the label (enter 0 for solid colors).
- Set a waste factor (15% is standard).
- Click "Calculate" to see the total number of rolls you need to buy.
How It Works
The calculator determines how many usable, full-length strips you can get from a single roll, accounting for the pattern repeat. It then calculates the total number of strips needed to cover your room's perimeter and divides that by the strips-per-roll to find the total rolls you need to buy. A waste factor is included.
